September Newsletter

Dear Friend,

We're unleashing fun this Dogtober.

All month long in October, we're celebrating the incredible bond we share with our four-legged friends, and we'd love for you to join us. Dogtober is our biggest fundraising campaign of the year, and it's absolutely vital.

Every Mobility Dog represents years of dedication, training, and resource - and it's only through the generosity of people like you, that we can continue this life-changing work across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Whether you're a proud dog owner or simply a dog lover at heart, there's a way for everyone to take part. Go solo, team up with your community group, workplace, or friends - or sign up as a superstar duo with your best furry friend. However you join in, you'll be making an extraordinary difference.

And if taking part isn't for you, you can still help transform lives by donating - every contribution, big or small, truly matters.

Let's celebrate the joy dogs bring us, and most importantly, raise funds that make our mission possible. Together, we can make this Dogtober change lives.

Thank you for your care and support.

Kindest regards,

Jody Wilson
General Manager

Q&A Session Part III

Q: It's disappointing there isn't government support to extend your services - so many people could benefit from having one of your dogs.

A: Yes, we couldn't agree more and share the same disappointment. Currently, there is no government funding for Mobility Dogs. *With 1 in 6 New Zealanders living with the impact of disability every day, the need is clear. We continue to advocate for greater support, but in the meantime, ongoing community fundraising is vital to ensure our specially trained dogs can reach those who need them most.

*NZ Stat Disability Survey 2023

Q: We would love to see Mobility Dogs at public family / social events, and more visits to our Clubs!

A: We'd love to, but visits from our dogs-in-training can be quite different from what people might expect. Because they're working, they can't be patted or touched, and are trained to remain calm and focused in environments with lots of noise, smells, and people. Depending on where they are in their training, some settings may not be suitable. Our top priority is always the wellbeing of our dogs.

Thank you to our amazing donors for being the driving force behind Mobility Dogs, you help make it all possible and change lives💚💛

Without the incredible generosity of our funders, we could not train Mobility Dogs to assist our disabled community -

thank you!
