September 2025 Prayer Letter

Dear Prayer Partners,

Isaiah 58 v 6-12 contains a strong message about the kind of fasting that pleases the Lord. It is not about sack cloth and ashes but all about doing away with injustice, oppression, hunger, homelessness, malicious talk and the like. Isaiah writes "If we spend ourselves on behalf of (the needy) then our light will rise in the darkness——our Lord will guide us always and we will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."

The scripture gives an image of God's people being like a beautiful garden, vibrant with life watered by a spring that never fails. lt is an image of the grace of God flowing through his people giving life to a parched humanity. It is a beautiful image. Thank you to all who give of themselves to bring God's healing love to those in need, and especially to children and their families living in poverty. God's love flowing through you is bringing them a new, vibrant life filled with hope for the future. You are a spring whose waters never fail, pouring out over a parched humanity

Thank you from Kim and Carmel of the Uganda support group and Ohfi.

Bunyinza well

We give thanks to God that the village of Bunyinza now has the funds to complete the well that will benefit the daily need of villagers as well as their goat farm established to bless the schooling and health of their children.

Until now, the women in the community have had to walk 4 kilometres each way to collect water.

The tank/pump has been secured and all the fittings purchased. The final step is to wait for the concrete for the pump stand to be fully dry before filling up the 10,000 litre tank so that the water system can start running.

We pray that the project progresses well. We especially pray that the community of widows and older women will benefit from the plentiful and close supply of water.

HANNAH Romania – Report from Alice, founder of HANNAH

We are making an exciting step in advancing training in Romania, targeting the 'leaders' that have emerged from the previous years of training. The 'leaders' are being coached monthly on Zoom, provided with the resources so they in turn will be running their own local monthly coaching sessions with their peers in Romania.

This is such an exciting step towards sharing the knowledge gained from the training and making it enduring and sustainable for the future within their own communities.

It will take great courage from the leaders/coaches. At the moment they are feeling nervous!

Please pray for them, that they will recognise success, and together with the social workers attending, they will all be better equipped and more confident in their work. That the ripples from the training will continue out into the community, strengthening vulnerable adults and families, achieving our vision that every child will know they are loved, valued, nurtured and have a hope and a future.

Thank you for your prayers.

Report from Lun, Director of Kolkata, India

We give thanks that the visas for our trip to New Zealand in October have been granted.

In our Kolkata tuition projects we are good and running well. Apart from sickness the children are happy and learning well in their classrooms.

Please pray for healing of the tuition children, the staff of the 6 Centres and our own children. There is much sickness. Some of the staff and children are sick and we need God's healing.

Kindly pray for our micro enterprise projects in Khousabung in Manipur with 16 piglets and our sewing classes with 7 students.

Thank you.

Athang, Founder of Ohfi in India, writes from Manipur

Please do continue to pray for peace and love between Zo-Kukis and Meitei Hindu Radicals in the State of Manipur and in North East India.

When the uprising began by the Hindu Radicals in Imphal on the 3rd of May 2023 OHF, along with my family, lost millions of rupees in Imphal. This included loss of houses, office and vehicles. Ever since we have not been able to visit Imphal and conduct business there.

Please pray that the Government of India would promote peace and a solution to creating pure and lasting peace between the two communities.

For many years Joicy Guite has been a lovely and faithful social worker for OHF in Manipur. She has had a lot of loss in her life with the deaths of her husband and daughter Hahat.

Please pray for Joicy that she will be strong and healthy well into the future and that God will provide for all her needs.

Mozambique

Please pray for our 'Africa on Fire' partner Felito Utuie and his wife Anna as Felito prepares to head back to their work with the children at the Center of Hope in Muxuquete Village, Chibuto, Mozambique.

Please pray that Ohfi is able to source funding to both stock Felito's chicken farming project and construct a 3-classroom secondary school building.

Rwanda

Please pray for our PHARP partners in Rwanda as they struggle to complete the new primary school in Kibari, Gicumbi, and that Ohfi is able to support them with additional fundraising planned for October.

Please pray for Carmel Hurdle, who many times has led training in Rwanda and Uganda, as she prepares to head back to Rwanda and Uganda in October. Please pray for her health and well being.

Zambia

Please pray for the success of Derek Liefting (Ohfi Board member) as he reviews and looks for a way forward for the Ohfi Zambian mission located in the impoverished area of Misisi in the capital Lusaka.

Training Committee

We are grateful to God for Sonia Bromley for all of her good work to rebuild the Ohfi Training Committee and set a focus and future direction for the training undertaken by Ohfi.

Please pray that God grants Sonia wisdom and guidance in all that she does.

Visit of Lun and Ngaiching Misao, from Manipur, Director of Ohfi Kolkata

We give thanks that Visitor visas have been granted for the visit of Lun and Ngaiching to Ohfi in New Zealand. The visit is for two weeks starting from the 7th October.

Lun and Ngaiching will divide their time between the Auckland region and the Wellington region. Currently venues are being arranged for them to present the nature and the fruits of their ministry to all supporters of Ohfi and the general public.

Lun and Ngaiching live inspirational lives and it is our prayer that their story will be an inspiration to many. Invitations to these events are now being sent.

Please pray that an approach to an Auckland retirement village to host an event, where some of our donors and supporters are residing, will be successful.

We give thanks for the venues that have been found for the speaking engagements around the Wellington region.

We especially thank David from Sponge Kitchen in Levin for his provision of supper for Lun's and Ngaiching's visit to Levin and his promotion of the event throughout his networks of 7 churches.

We give thanks as well for our staff and Board members who have taken a leading role in promoting the speaking tour by Lun and Ngaiching.

Prayer

Heavenly Father we thank you for the faith and love of Lun and Ngaiching that has blessed many children and families in both Manipur and Kolkata.

We pray you grant them a safe and happy journey to New Zealand and return home. May many people come to meet and listen to Lun and Ngaiching and be inspired by their dedication to the well being of impoverished and vulnerable children.

Through their visit may there be a growing awareness and support of the Ohfi ministry in the several countries in which Ohfi works.

We pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

Thank you for your prayers that are so essential for Ohfi to be a dedicated and compassionate organisation working for the well being of children, families and communities.

God bless, keep and watch over you.

Ewen Laurenson
