June Newsletter

Hello friends of The Water Well Project,

We've got some exciting news to share! Our End of Financial Year fundraising campaign has received an incredible opportunity for a boost.  You can read more about this below.

We're also preparing for TWO New Volunteer Training sessions to welcome more passionate healthcare professionals to our team.

Both of these initiatives are essential as we work to meet the growing demand for our culturally responsive health education sessions.

Thank you for being part of this important work.  We look forward to updating you again soon!

We Need Your Help To Keep Health Education Free For Our Community Groups – Double The Impact Of Your Donation.

Play

Thanks to the generous backing of The Phil Taylor Foundation, every donation made before 30 June will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $40,000. That means double the impact - and a vital step toward the sustainable funding we need to continue our work long into the future.

There is nothing else quite like The Water Well Project. Led by qualified healthcare professionals, our sessions are culturally responsive, conversational, and delivered in trusted community spaces where participants feel safe, heard, and empowered.

Since 2011, we have delivered over free 2,000 health education sessions to more than 30,000 community members.

Our community partners and volunteer healthcare professionals witness the impact of our work firsthand. They see the moments that matter: a mother understanding the importance of maternal child health visits, a man finally seeking support for his mental health, young women feeling confident to book a cervical screening appointment.

Watch this short video above to hear from them about the impact of the Water Well Project and why your support will make a difference.

But this vital work is at risk. Like many small not-for-profits, we are facing a difficult funding environment at the very time demand for our sessions is growing. Without immediate support, we simply will not be able to reach everyone who needs us.

Please donate today and help us build stronger, healthier, more informed communities for everyone.

New Volunteer Training

Our recent Melbourne New Volunteer Training session took place in Richmond last month. Despite the cold and rainy weather, we had a warm and engaged group of healthcare professionals join us, some of whom have already gone on to facilitate sessions. A big thank you to everyone who came along.

Excitingly, we have two more New Volunteer Training sessions coming up - one online and one in NSW. If you're interested, please register below and feel free to share the details with friends, family or healthcare colleagues who might like to get involved.

We would love to have you!

Volunteer Milestone Recognition

Our founder, Linny, has been busy handwriting personalised thank you cards for some of our incredible volunteers who have reached commendable session milestones. This small but meaningful gesture is one way of us recognising their dedication, compassion and the time they generously give to support our communities.

As a token of our appreciation, these volunteers will also receive a Water Well Project lapel pin, which they can wear with pride at future sessions, knowing how valued and appreciated they are by the entire team.

Help Improve Cancer Care for CALD Patients

Peter Mac researchers are developing a new tool to support nurses in providing better care for patients from culturally diverse backgrounds. If you support cancer patients in your community, they would love to hear from you. Take part in an interview or discussion to help shape this important work.
