As we approach the end of the year, it's the perfect time to reflect on what makes our community so special. Once again, I'm blown away by the generosity and compassion of our incredible donors, supporters, funders and volunteer puppy raisers. Your kindness never ceases to inspire us - on behalf of the entire team, thank you for all that you do. A special shout-out to everyone who took part in Dogtober!
Thanks to our wonderful participants, donors, and business partners, more than $4,000 was raised to support our vital work. Your enthusiasm and dedication truly makes a difference.
In this edition, we're excited to share two powerful client stories highlighting the life-changing impact our dogs have - not only on their partners but also across the wider community. Each story is a reminder of why our work matters so deeply. I hope you enjoy reading their journeys as well as an article about a special trust supporting our work. |
Thank you, Friend, for your care and support. Kindest regards,

Mobility Dog Gracie, gives Michal her confidence back. |
After a long and frightening hospital stay, Wellington counsellor Michal Horton never imagined a dog could change her life. But when Gracie, a gentle Golden Retriever, came into her world, everything shifted. Gracie helps Michal feel safe and visible in the community, comforts her clients during therapy sessions, and even volunteers alongside her at Wellington Hospital's ICU β the very place where Michal once recovered.
"Gracie has given me the confidence to move back out into the community and to know I can live a full and meaningful life," Michal says.
Thanks to our supporters, partnerships like Michal and Gracie's are bringing hope, independence, and joy to people across Aotearoa. π

Jacob & Harley: Best mates for life π |
| In WhakatΔne, 22-year-old Jacob and his Mobility Dog Harley share an unbreakable bond. From helping with daily tasks to lifting Jacob's spirits when things get tough, Harley has changed Jacob's life in countless ways.
"He makes it worth getting up in the morning," says Jacob. "He cheers me up, helps me when I'm anxious β he's my best friend." Harley's been by Jacob's side through hospital stays, DJ gigs, and even a trip to Queenstown's ice bar (complete with a woolly jacket!). Together, they've built a life full of confidence, companionship, and love. |

Meet Hugo β A special puppy backed by a very special trust |
Behind every one of our amazing Mobility Dogs is a story of teamwork, generosity, and heart β and Hugo's story is a perfect example. πΎ
Thanks to the incredible support of the Hugo Charitable Trust, this bright young pup is thriving in his training and already showing the calm, gentle nature that will one day make him a life-changing companion. It's extra special that Hugo shares his name with the trust that's helping make his journey possible β a lovely reminder of how kindness can come full circle.
Hugo's progress is a testament to the difference dedicated supporters like the Hugo Charitable Trust make in the lives of our dogs and the people they'll help. |
