Wellby Signposter Information Session |
Wellby is a social connection initiative that Age Concern jointly manages with Volunteer Nelson. The concept behind Wellby is to connect people with activities that give them a sense of belonging. It does this through Talking Cafes, the Found Directory and through Signposter Information Sessions.
Imagine you are chatting with someone, either in your professional capacity or while on the bus/at the doctors etc, and they tell you they are isolated and lonely. You want to help but don't know how or even what groups are out there. This is where the signposter information session can help. It explains more about the Talking Cafes, which are pop-in cuppa and chat sessions, and the Found Directory website, which has information on over 1000 clubs and organisations in the Nelson-Tasman region. Using the search function you can find a group that matches the person's interests and needs. Recently one of our signposters was able to link a person who was interested in gold mining with an appropriate rock and geology group that met in a local library.
We have a series of Signposter Information Sessions throughout the year, and these are a fantastic way to give you the skills and knowledge to support people being more connected. We encourage you to come along and be a part of Wellby. Upcoming sessions are:
⇒ Monday 26 February, Age Concern Nelson Office, 18 Bridge Street, Nelson, 9.30-10.30am ⇒ Thursday 11 April, Age Concern Hall, 62 Oxford Street, Richmond, 9.30-10.30am ⇒ Tuesday 18 June, Age Concern Nelson Office, 18 Bridge Street, Nelson, 9.30-10.30am
For more information or to register for our Information Sessions please contact Marnie on (03) 544 7624 ext 5 or email ageconnect@ageconcernnt.org.nz |
