Volunteer News

Hello everyone.

It has been a busy four weeks since I last wrote to you. The Lord continued to go before us and to open pathways for us.

KO Perth Guest Weekend was blessed, and the team welcomed ten beautiful women into their Kairos community. They held their reunion which also went very well.  Three other Regions have worked to complete their team formation training in readiness for delivering programs this month.

Please pray for Kairos Outside South Coast and Kairos Outside Canberra that their Weekends will run smoothly, that their guests will all attend the weekends and that many members of the outside community will attend their closing ceremonies on 16 August and 23 August.

We pray for the Kairos Inside Goulburn team as they ready themselves to deliver Program number 27 on 24 to 28 August. Unfortunately, they will be unable to join us at the conference. We will miss their smiling faces but know that they are with us in spirit.

We also pray for the Kairos Outside North Queensland team and both the Kairos Inside St Heliers team and the Kairos Inside Mannus team as they continue with their team formation meetings in preparation for delivering programs in September.

Lord, we thank you for your gentle guidance and protection over us. We thank you for the many people who have been touched and moved to support us in prayer, financial support and acting as intermediaries opening new doors and opportunities for us to assess and pursue. We thank you for the volunteers who have been moved to provide testimonies to encourage us and enable us to promote the ministry.

We thank you for the words of encouragement and witness which we received when attending the international conference in Orlando. Affirmation that God is not done with this ministry and that he has plans both in Australia and world-wide for expansion and renewal.

We thank you for the witness given by the two Kairos volunteers who delivered powerful testimonies on the power of God to heal us and use us as his hands and feet even when we are under attack.

I hope that you find these two testimonies as moving and powerful as I did:

Let us go forward obedient to our Lord's instructions in Colossians Chapter 3 verses 12 to 17

"You are God's chosen race, his saints, he loves you and you should be clothed in sincere compassion, in kindness and humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with one another, forgive each other as soon as a quarrel begins. The Lord has forgiven you, now you must do the same. Over all these clothes, to keep them together and complete them, put on love. And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were called together as parts of one body. Always be thankful."

And in Matthew Chapter 6 verse 34

"So do not worry about tomorrow: tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own"

Lord, we place our trust in you and thank you for the privilege of being your hands and feet and witnesses to the miracles you work in this ministry to the incarcerated, and the families of those impacted by the incarceration of family members or close friends.

God, your love is amazing. Thank you for modelling how to love people well – we want to do our best to follow your example. Your love has changed us. Help us to lead others to your transformative love. In Jesus name. Amen.

Thanks, and abundant blessings.

Kairos Prison Ministry International 50th Anniversary Conference 🎈

On 21 July our Board Chair Colin Stiller, our Deputy Board Chair Tony Hoban and I flew out to Orlando to attend the 50th Anniversary Conference, sit in on a KPMI board meeting and to participate in two days of International Council meetings, two days of workshops and fabulous evening presentations. We had the opportunity to meet up with representatives from South Africa, Northern Island, England and many of our American brothers and sisters.

We also met with the KPMI Chief Operating Officer Evelyn Lemly and the KPMI Chair Steve Musselwight.

Colin and Tony also had the opportunity to chat with last surviving member of the nine old men who established Kairos Prison Ministry fifty years ago.

Tony participated in memorial service and read out the names of the Australian volunteers who had passed away in the last two years.

Coraine joined us for the Friday and Saturday sessions of the conference and the 50th anniversary dinner celebration

There will be a story with more photos on the News page of the website later this month.

Music - CCLI 🎵

We are all required to report the songs we use to CCLI.

Kairos Prison Ministry Australia provides an easy way to report song use via connecting to the CCLI reporting website. Our Operations Manager Bruce Bond is happy to guide and assist you in navigating this process.

Bruce has provided a summary of when reporting is required for me to share with you.

Copyright reporting is not required for the use of Public Domain songs, songs owned by Kairos Prison Ministry International or songs for which you have obtained written permission to use from authors or publishers.

Copyright reporting is required each time the words of a song are projected onto a screen or every time the words of a song are printed. These reporting obligations exist for songs used at any Kairos event – team formation, program events and continuing ministry activities.

The submission of song usage data ensures that CCLI can distribute the correct amount of royalties to song writers and publishers.

Bruce sends each leader details on how to use the CCLI website when the Program Notification Form is submitted for the upcoming program.

Just because publicly available songs are on YouTube or the like does not mean that there is no need to report song use.

Kairos Prison Ministry Australia pays an annual copyright fee to CCLI which is then on billed to each of the active Regions.  Find out more and get all the information on MyKairosOz
