OUR ANNUAL APPEAL REACHED THE TARGET - THANK YOU

Thank you to all who donated to our Annual Appeal 2025

We set an ambitious target for our annual appeal this year which was more than last year's successful appeal. We were conscious of the difficult financial conditions presiding in the Wellington Region but were hopeful of a good response. The generosity of the people of Wellington exceeded our expectations, and we are extremely grateful.

THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH FOR HELPING US REACH OUR GOAL!

MEMORY CHALLENGES?

Are you experiencing memory challenges? A PhD student from the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Victoria University is conducting a research project exploring how technology can support memory in everyday life.

They are seeking participants to be interviewed as part of the study, particularly your thoughts on:

  • Every day memory challenges
  • Tolls and strategies you have used to meet these challenges
  • How technology might support memory.

If you are interested in participating or wish to learn more, please email mindula.rowel@vuw.ac.nz

THE 3G NETWORK IS CLOSING DOWN

At the end of this year the New Zealand is saying goodbye to 3G mobile networks in favour of the faster and more reliable services provided by 4G and 5G. 3G is the "third generation" of mobile network technology, which enabled the first widespread use of mobile internet, including web browsing, email, and video calls.

After the shutdown, any 3G-reliant phones, alarms, tablets, or other connected devices that use 3G networks to connect will no longer connect to a mobile network. This includes making a 111 emergency 111 voice call from a mobile device that uses 3G technology for voice calling.

Most New Zealanders are already using 4G and 5G but there are some customers still using 3G-reliant devices, especially phones who will need to update or upgrade their device to stay connected after the shutdown.

Check your mobile device: Free-text '3G' to 550 to check whether your mobile phone is affected.

Stay informed: Visit www.3gshutdown.co.nz for up to date information and resources, or visit your specific mobile providers website.

Spread the word: Make sure to tell friends and whānau who may be affected, especially those who may need help preparing for this change.

Recycle old devices: Dispose of old mobile devices responsibly with RE:MOBILE. It's free and easy with 500+ locations nationwide. Learn more at remobile.org.nz
